Balu rushes and saves Durai, who receives clandestine treatment in his home. Pechi's men waylay them and try to attack Anbu, but Durai accidentally gets stabbed in his neck. Durai tells her that he agrees to this match.Īs per Durai's wishes, Anbu's UPSC attempt at becoming IAS becomes successful, and Durai and Anbu go alone to Anbu's village to convey the result.
Balu had then refused to get married, and stayed in US. Durai meets with Sembaruthi and tells her that Balu refused to marry anyone because his fiancée Hema died in an accident to Tirupati days before their marriage. Despite regretting it, Balu falls for Sembaruthi, for which she reciprocates. Meanwhile, there is Sembaruthi, whose activities remind Balu of his ex-lover Hema. Pechi sets the stage to kill Anbu during the temple festival, and he is constantly saved by Balu. The flashback ends there.īalakumaran alias Balu, the only son of Durai, returns from USA after seven years to his village and understands the situation in his village. Pechi waits for an opportunity to kill Anbu in the next festival, while Durai's men safeguard him and pay for his education. Everyone is killed on the same day except for 18 year old Anbu, who is accidentally saved by Durai. She wants to hunt down all the males of the clan of the murderer as revenge. Instead, that villagers kill Pechi's husband on the same day in front of Pechi. Pechi's family is a distant relative of Durai and the chieftain family of one of the seven villages.Ī small flashback seven years ago in the previous Grand festival, is shown where newly married Pechi's husband and his friends mistake an unfortunate accident as an insult by another village person of lower caste and later kills him.
The Grand Chieftain of 7 villages, respected Durai Ayya ensures that the festival goes on smoothly, as there could be trouble from Pechankarasi alias Pechi and her brothers. The govt also refuses to sanction any irrigation schemes, as the lack of festivals shows lack of unity among the 7 villages. The people believe that due to this halt of festival, there has been drought in the area. Villagers of the seven village circle in south area of Theni district plan to conduct their annual grand temple festival after failing to do so for seven years. The film begins 12 years later after the events which occurred in the Sandakozhi.
